Term 3 Extra Credit Project: Crop Circles
Your extra credit project is to make a crop circle design using the different equation types that we have talked about this term: linear, quadratic, and circle. This project should be completed on desmos.com. If you do not have access to a computer, you may do the assignment by hand.
Extra credit can be placed in three categories: homework, quizzes, or tests. You may choose which category the extra credit is placed in. Here is the breakdown per category:
- Homework: 30 pts added to overall homework points
- Quizzes: 10 pts added to overall quiz points
- Tests: 5% added to any test
Design Criteria
- You must use a minimum of 10 equations, with at least 2 of each type of equation.
- For example, I could use 6 circles, 2 parabolas, and 2 lines.
- You must write the equations for each of your graphs.
- If necessary, restrict the domain of an equation so the everything fits within your design. This means that you should not have lines that extend off into infinity.
- For example, you may need a linear equation to only go from -4 to 0 on the x-axis, so you can restrict your domain by typing in {-4<x<0}
- I recommend plotting the graphs first, then clicking on the intersection points to see where to restrict your domain
- You can make the design as large or as small as you would like.
Once you have finished your design, there is an option at the top right corner of the webpage that will allow you to share the link to your design. Email the design, along with which category you would like the points to be allotted to, to [email protected] by no later than Wednesday, March 7 at 11:59pm.
